Copetown aka. Copenhagen

How did you get into fixed gear riding?

In ‘99 I went to my first CMWC (Cycle Messenger World Championship) in Zurich, and I saw the skid event, and thought to myself “these guys are fucking idiots! Why would you ride without brakes!?!”… About a year later, I was in NYC and after a long talk about the philosophy of riding a track bike for work, I decided to try it out… I was Hooked!

10 years later I still consider it my favorite work/competition bike, to ride.

What interests do you have outside of fixed gear bikes?

I have a degree in design, and have a general passion for art and design. I love working in different medias and I’m always trying to learn new things.

The latest thing I’ve been getting into is running and swimming. So the natural next step will be triathlons (and probably an IRONMAN somewhere in the near future aswell).

Best thing about your city:

it’s FLAT! One of the main reasons the track bike makes so much sense in Cph!

Worst thing about your city:

Other cyclist who ride, like they are the only ones on the road!

Favorite spot to ride:

NYC is an aggressive place to ride, with many things to look out for, while riding, but that’s part of what makes it fun! But Copetown will always have a special place in my heart regardless where I might be.

If you could go anywhere in the world right now to ride your bike, where would it be?

You’d think I’d say NYC right? WRONG!, If I could go anywhere right now, I’d go back to Tokyo! Just like NYC it’s crazy a traffic (and they ride on the wrong side of the road), but it’s way more “civilized”. I think Tokyo is the new NYC, but that’s just my opinion

Best thing about Sofus straps?

One of my favorite things about the TITAN straps is the fact I can ride with my regular sneakers. I’ve never been into clipless riding for work. The straps give me a secure feel, and tight fit. Which makes me feel like I’ll always have the best control possible, while riding.

What’s the set up on your bike?

I ride a Bridgestone track frame, Nitto parts, bullhorns, Sugino cranks, phil wood hubs, velocity rims and MTB pedals with TITAN straps.

Favorite band right now:

I’m getting more into progressive house, so I don’t have a favorite “band” per say, at this moment. But if I have to name one person, I’d say Eric Prydz.

In the last few months I have been working on a project where I have been filming and  photographing random people in the sidewalks of Vejle. I have been trying to portrait people in a natural way. Even though most of the portraits are posed, none of the persons in the photos or the film have been preparing for the shoots. So there have been very little time for them to think about how they look or which clothes they wear.

I would like to thank all the people who helped and who have lined up for filming. I hope you enjoy watching it and please share it on your facebook, google+ or whatever. And feel free to comment. I would love to hear your opinion.
